Rigid PIR boards are a modern thermal insulation material combining excellent insulation performance with reduced material thickness. This makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, particularly where the available space for the insulation layer is limited.
PIR boards effectively reduce heat loss, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year. Their use can also help reduce energy consumption and, consequently, lower heating and cooling costs.
Rigid Aluminium-Faced PIR Board – High Thermal Insulation Performance
PIR AL boards feature a thermal insulation core made of rigid PIR foam with an aluminium facing (AL). This construction provides excellent thermal insulation properties and makes the boards suitable for a wide range of construction applications.
The material is characterised by a very low thermal conductivity of λD = 0.022 W/(m·K). The boards are also resistant to moisture and changing temperature conditions.
20 mm thick PIR boards provide effective thermal insulation with a relatively thin layer of material while maintaining excellent insulation performance. This is particularly beneficial in areas where the available space for insulation is limited.
For a 20 mm termPIR AL board, the thermal resistance is R = 0.90 m²K/W.
PIR AL insulation boards are available in a wide range of thicknesses, from 20 to 250 mm, and in two standard sizes:
- 1200 × 2400 mm – large board,
- 1200 × 600 mm – small board.
The boards are also available with three different edge profiles: straight edge, tongue-and-groove and rebated edge. Properly profiled edges not only make installation easier and faster but also help reduce thermal bridging at the joints, improving the overall performance of the insulation layer.
